Model 19-2 2in
I have a S&W Model 19-2 2 in barrel, .357...in great shape...I know they are very hard to find and was just wondering if anyone might know the value of it. It is blued and been locked away for at least 35 yrs maybe more.......would appreciate hearing from y'all on this as I am considering selling it.

It's probably a 2.5 inch barrel. It's also a fairly early one. . .pinned and recessed. A rough estimate would be a bit over $1000. Add $100 or more if it has its matching box with all the paperwork and cleaning kit. If the gun is like new in box, who knows what it might bring on Gun Broker. On-line auction prices have gone insane this year. It is a very desirable gun. I should mention that a high grade example in blue will bring a slight premium over nickel with this gun.

Jerry,
That model 19 will be a 2 1/2" barrel.
They are not that hard to find.
As to value, condition, completeness of the package and location of the firearm all impact on price.
A shooter grade with no box can go as cheap as $350, while a pristine example that has never been fired since leaving the factory and is complete with box and papers can bring $1500 or more.
Guns already in California go for more than this since they can no longer be imported into the State.

Jerry, you can add $100.00 to the price ranges you were given in July 2014. Photos would be a big help.

Mod 19-2
I have been searching all over the web for comparison to my Mod 19-2....I see the 19-2 in a 6 in barrel, a beautiful chrome 2 1/2 in, but not like mine. Mine is blue, round grip, not square, 19-2 2 1/2 in. So close but none exactly like mine....trying to get a estimate of the value as I am seriously thinking about selling it.

Jerry,
Post some photos here and we will gladly render our opinions as to the value. I would even bet that you may get some offers via PM

Here is my 19-2 1968/69 vintage.
Packed some shot little.
Bore, lock-up, timing as new.
IIRC I paid $625.00 earlier this year.

Here's my track on the 19 snubbie:
Smith & Wesson 19 2-1/2 inch barrel. Revolver in .357 Mag. Blue Book of Gun Values (36th Edition) indicates between $325 in 95% condition and $650 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 119 recorded prices for this model gun from $395 to $1055 over a period of 6 Yrs 1 Mos ending April 20, 2016. The average price as of that date was $618. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights. All represented as 95% or better. No distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $457.
The last 10 prices I have for this model since 10/23/2015 range from $600 to $975 averaging $732. It seems the average price is continuing to climb.
Better than average examples would command high than average prices, especially with box, papers, tools, and so on.
Here's my 19-5:

I "paid a little early" for this 19-2 ($900) but it is possibly unfired since factory and has the original box and accessories. The prices have now caught up and I am happy with my safe dweller for the long haul. I only have two Smiths in this category. Pictures of yours would help in evaluating actual condition. These are beautiful, sought after revolvers and you won't have any trouble selling at a reasonable price.

Here is a real world example of one I saw sell yesterday at a gun show with a non dealer seller to a private buyer Face to Face. I looked at the gun for 5 minutes and decided it was a 98% er. It was pined and recessed with original grips and no box. My offer of $625 was turned down as he was asking $700 and had gone unsold for 2 weeks. Another guy offered $633 and bought it. I can't vouch for the condition or selling price of internet transactions. Thought this might be of interest to you as it more closely matches your situation.

Just in case you have any doubts, I'm quite careful about my track price collection:
- Completed Auctions (real world)
- Fulfilled classifieds from internet sites, I follow up to verify sales (real world)
- Local shop prices (real world)
- Reported purchases on forums like this one (real world)
I'll add your real world reported price, too, thanks for posting it with a date. Dates help to establish trends.

For what it’s worth, I bought a 19-3 2.5” in about 90+% condition last May for $475 FTF. Recent completed sales on Gunbroker (19-2 or -3s, blue, 2.5” bbl, in at least 90+% condition) that I recorded are:
6/17/15 - $622
6/21/15 - $633
9/13/15 - $701
11/14/15 - $555
1/28/16 - $594
That’s all I have. They are completed sales.
