Can't argue with your selection for a traveling gun! Enjoy!

Well done. May we ask a ballpark purchase price? Yes, I am rude, but, I have been looking for one to mate with my 19s. Good buy for you.

It was about the max I wanted to pay, 780.00 OTD. Based on what I have been seeing that was a fair price.

Congratulations. Fine looking revolver.
Many years ago, when I was a teenager, I saw what I suppose was the first copy of Guns and Ammo magazine I ever saw. WOW...a magazine about guns? Who knew?
Anyway, on the cover, was a picture of a blue steel revolver, 4" barrel, target grips, positioned at about a 45 to the right. Light streamed from the muzzle. The gun looked to be (as I remember it) bigger than life. The banner over/under it screamed..
SMITH & WESSON MODEL 19!
COMBAT MAGNUM!
I remember thinking, "Now THAT is what a handgun is supposed to look like."
I still think so.
BTW. I bought a 19-3 myself, not long ago.

It would be nice to still have that magazine cover in good condition today! Thanks for looking in.

Congrats on your rev. The most iconic S&W ever made.
You can not go wrong with a Mod-19. When I had my shop, they were all spoken for before I got my shipment. Good collecting and shooting.

I'm not sure. I took them off and checked, no numbers or dates, so they might not be original. The screw slots were in great shape so they weren't changed much. Anybody else know?

I could be wrong but I think they used the 'footballs' until '80-81? My '78ish 27 has the footballs.
