New Spegel Extended Boot Grips...
on one of my favorite revolvers, my Model 28-2 that was rebarreled and slicked up by David Sams. The feel, fit and finish of these grips are perfect. Not just close, but perfect. Can't say enough good things about Spegel grips.

I really like the 28-2 with the Spegels. What caused it to be rebarreled and what is that front sight, if you don't mind my asking?
Of course, the 27 is in its own class, too. Nice work!

Wow
Those are just stunning revolvers -- and you're right, the grips are amazing.

Spegel makes fantastic grips and the ones you have are beautiful. The only set I have are on a Browning HP and I love them.

That is a particularly stunning Model 28 exceptionally complemented by those Spegel grips, perhaps the nicest looking 28-2 I can recall.
Like Peak53 I'd be interested what necessitated a re-barreling on your 28-2 and if it was refinished in the process?

The front sight is by XS Sight Systems. It's not the big dot but rather standard height and width ( https://www.xssights.com/Detail.aspx...93755&CAT=8373). It took a rear sight blade change to get the perfect sight setup for the ammo I use, but it is now completely sorted out. As for the barrel, the original had not been clean properly somewhere in its past and was pitted about 2/3rds of the way down the tube. It shot OK, but with this new barrel it shoots like it should, very accurately. The rest of the gun was in good mechanical condition, but cosmetically needed a refresh.

Been using Spegel Boot grips since the mid-80s........ on Smiths with barrels of 3" or less..... and the Extended Boot Grips on guns with 4-6 inch barrels.
IMHO the best grips out there!

Love the 27 and the 28. I am a grip fanatic, and I love those Spegels.
Love the Hi-Power too.

Does "cosmetically needed a refresh" mean refinished / reblued? If so, where did you get the 28-2 done? It looks great.

Yes it does. I had all the work done by David Sams ( Sams Custom Gunworks LLC). He fit the new barrel, did an action job keeping the springs near full strength (Factory weight Wolff Power Rib and 15# rebound), replaced the rear sight leaf with a .160", bead blasted and blued the entire gun, and installed the XS System tritium front sight.

While not nearly as extravagant as the OP's, I have a set of Spegel's in cocobolo for my 19-5 that fit us both perfectly.
