Wood Stock Dilemma
When I purchased my Model 10-7 it had rubber grips so I got a set of original wood stocks which I found here on the forums.
Since then I lucked into 3 more sets on auction and I don't know which set to keep.
My model 10 is approximately 1979, the closest stocks are early 80's. My M10 is a shooter but if I ever decide to sell it would either set of stocks make a difference?
I have someone that want to buy all my stocks that I'm not using. What would you keep?

Without thinking too hard about it the third set of stocks (grips) from the left look most appropriate for your 10-7.
It's a "no-brainer" regarding your question about which stocks to keep. Keep all of them. It'll give you a good reason to look for revolvers appropriate to the stocks.

I like the way you think. I have 9 sets of grips/stocks for 2 k-frames. I sold another M10 a few months back with rubber grips so I gave that guy first chance on the grips... of course he wants them all.
The 3rd set is actually the most comfortable (round bottom) for my small hands but has the most wear. I could always refinish them (remove clear and add new).

That's good advice about keeping them all! If you continue to purchase S&W revolvers you will no doubt have a need for them. I have some stocks on the shelf and I know that sooner or later I will have a need for them, and with the prices on stocks going up it's a wise investment.

Keep all of them and get other revolvers. Gotta start somewhere, right?

Speaking of keep, I have a couple sets I've replaced with aftermarket stocks. The originals are shooter grade but they are numbered to the revolvers and I'd like to keep them without any further dings or deterioration.
Any suggestions besides wrapping in a rag and tossing in a drawer?

For what it is worth, I would keep #3 in bubble wrap and refinish #2 and mount them on the gun, just my 2 cents worth.
I have a pile of stocks with no guns to mount them on..... it is really a sad story ...

I take the original wood grips off all my old S&W revolvers and replace them with either Ahrends grips or Hogue rubber ones to fit my hand better. When I die, goodness knows what the wife and kids will do with that drawer full of old S&W wood grips (but I won't be worrying about it).

A wise man once said, more grips than guns is a good thing! I store my extra grips Magna in glass cases, and targets in old ankle socks (clean of course) I suggest you keep them for a rainy SW day.
Good luck
