To BUY OR NOT TO BUY
I have a chance to buy a 29-2 .44 mag 8 3/8" barrel nickel plated revolver from the original owner. It has the original box. He wants $800. Is this a good price?

It depends on condition, of course. In excellent condition, I would jump on it if I wanted one, and I don't have one!
I saw a nickel 8 3/8" model 29-2 in Tulsa in April for $1200, so you will have to evaluate your desires and condition to determine if it worth $800 to you.

If it's in good condition and you like a barrel that spans two zip codes, buy it. The price is right, maybe a bargain. The nickel finish does make it less common. Good luck.

+1.
What he said.
Personally, I'm not a long barrel or nickel plated kinda guy but if condition was right, I'd prolly buy it. My nephew has one and its a shooter.

I'm not a nickel gun guy and only buy nickel for trade fodder after close examination. Look for peeling around sharp edges... Solvents and oil can get under the nickel and more damage can occur. Otherwise, good price if solid.

I'd jump on it. Long barrel 29's are fun. In great shape with the box, easily 1200 here.

I agree with Nightowl.....If all conditions are right that would be at lest a $1,000.00 gun or more around here. I think $800.00 would be a decent price..............................M*

You better believe it is assuming it's in very good condition.

You are asking for advice on buying a classic S&W N frame from a site full of enablers. BUY. BUY. BUY!
Sorry, I got carried away.

As long as the finish is good I'd have to say go for it as well.
