Default 66-4 Changes

I have owned (and unfortunately sold) a few P&R 66 and 19's over the years. Yesterday I purchased a 66-4 snubby online. That got me wondering. I know the differences between the no dash through the -4.

I would prefer the no dash of course. Does the -4 model have any changes which amount to a hill of beans? I mean is the -4 inferior to the earlier models? The no - is more valuable and more desired but if buying just to shoot then is -4 matterially inferior?

No it's not inferior. True it doesn't have a pinned barrel or recessed cylinder but it's still a full internally forged gun. I think the difference with them is the start of round butt on 4"+ barrel guns. This "-" is sometimes called the "last of the good ones" as a matter of fact. Personally I have no quarrels with the -5 on up either. I love em all!
