Default '60s-'70s factory target grips

Hi All,
I have a Model 14-2 revolver made in 1967. It has the original grips that I would like to replace with factory target grips, but I want to stay old school. Many of the factory target grips on ebay have dates from the 1980s ink-stamped on the back and I would rather have grips that were available in the late 60s-early 70s. My question is; Is there a difference between 60s grips and 80s grips? Did the medallions change size/color?
Thanks in advance!
Phil

A 1967 Target-sighted K frame might have had the Target stocks with the uncheckered diamond around the stock screw, and the smaller ("football" or extractor) cutout on the left panel. The same set without the diamond would also be potentially correct. The 1980s version would have had a larger (speedloader) cutout but were otherwise the same up until the end of factory Target stocks, when the stock discs to hold the tops in the grip frame were deleted.

Confusing enough? Hope this is helpful.

S&W issued directive #1032 on December 28, 1967 to delete the diamond around the escutcheon and escutcheon nut on NT and KT (target) stocks. It took approximately a year to exhaust the supply of stocks on hand so your revolver would be correct with target stocks with the diamond around the escutcheon and nut. A Model 14-2 would have stocks made of walnut.

Default Blue and silver washers

Thought I'd piggyback on the question asked. When did the medallion washer change from blue to silver?
