Default MY GRAIL GUN: 1972 27-2

didnt think I was going to get one of these after dropping out on two in similar condition on GB. One went around 2600 and other 3200. A friend finally located one for me.

Congratulations on your "grail gun." I love scratching those off the list. She is a good looking one too.

Beautiful gun and even better grips! Who makes the grips? I'd like to get my hands on a pair of those.

Congrats on a very nice Model 27-2. She is a real beauty. I was lucky enough to come across one of these. The look and feel of this in your hand is unreal. I also have the 3.5". It is a keeper for sure.

Enjoy that Grail Gun !!!

I would bet they are made by John Culina (known by Kurac) here on the forum, but we will see what jrandyh says.

jrandyh, isn't it great when you can find a grail gun? I hope you rewarded your friend.

The prices that good condition S&Ws (and Colts) are bringing these days can be stunning. If you had told me 30 years ago that common, garden variety 27-2s would sell for over $3K I would have thought you crazy.

I keep telling my wife she's gonna be rich when I die but I don't think she believes me.

Just as long as she actually knows what you paid for them. There has been more than one widow sell a pre-war SA Colt Peacemaker
because she was told by her husband that he only paid $50 for that old thing.

I try to keep my wife advised of current value and insist she hold everything for one year after my demise so the vultures from my gun club fly off.

Very nice piece that you picked up. Enjoy it. Bought mine at the LGS about two years ago for $600. No box, but still a very nice piece. I use mine as a shooter. Mystified as to why the high prices you quoted. Not a common piece in the LGS, but they do come in from time to time.

That one is stunning.

I passed on a 3.5" nickel 27-2 at Cabelas last year. It was very nice and had the lazy Ampersand.

I just won't use it, so I passed in it.

This one is stunning. Absolutely stunning.

I have several sets of John Culinas grips as well, and they are works of art.

Great product, great guy, and his wife is one of the nicest people to work with as well.

I predicted the prices would climb soon. The old day prices are few and far between now. Now watch the prices on the older rugers. This tells me with age all guns become collectable. I see the H&R 22cal revolvers haven't seen a price increase yet? They made so many different models.

Such a good looking SMITH! I looked for a 27, for quite a while. It never happened. Settled (not a bad thing) for a 6" 28 no dash from 1960. I don't really have a GRAIL gun in mind. Would like to have a .44 Special someday. Enjoy your 27! Bob
