Date of production of a Model 17-2 revolver.
I would like to know the date of production of the S&W revolver Model 17-2 the serial number of which is :
K 493035.
This gun is marked by 3 german testing hallmarks. One of them contains number 63.

Here's a pdf file that will explain the proof marks on your K22. Scroll down to the "German" section. The "63" you see indicates in 1963 (the contemporary identifier is two letters that translate to a year) your gun cleared one of the six German proof houses identified by a specific logo -- the one I've seen most is the stag horn from Ulm, which appears to be the only proof house till 1968. The "federal eagle" with an "N" below it has been standard on German proofed guns since 1952.

Thank you for help. As I learned for German source, this gun was proofed in 1963, date of its import in Germany before being allowed to be sold in Western Germany. Iti is likely the gun was assembled and numbered in the US in 1962, as bamabiker said.

I recently bought a 17-2 with the German marks that show it went through the Hanover customs house in 1967.
Above the front of the trigger guard is a BWK inside a sideways diamond.
I've seen a picture of another mark that almost looked like a Glock logo.
Does anyone know what these markings mean?
