I think your m-37 is in the wrong box , the parts list is for a 6 shot and you have a 5 shot ,Not trying to be hurtful but i think it is items gathered up and stuffed in the box to make an pealing / apalling item

What you have is a Model 37 Air Weight and from what I can tell, it left the factory in 1968. If the grips are original to the revolver, Smith discontinued the diamond grips on this model in 1968, also, your revolver does not have a J prefix in the serial number. The J prefix was added in 1969. The box is not original to the revolver, it came with a model 36. I do not believe the paperwork is for this revolver. Remove the grips and check the mainspring, I believe you'll find it is a coil spring and not a leaf type as shown in the parts diagram you have. As for the warranty paperwork, I really don't know.

Not hurtful at all.
Unless I am 110% sure, I never pay more for a box or paperwork.
From an estate auction by an executor and auction house that was less than knowledgeable about firearms. They probably thought they went together. Not a problem, I'll separate them, now that I have good information.

Thank you.
I'll leave the warranty card with the box and deal with the instruction/part sheet separately.

Pulled the stocks off earlier today. Serial number matches the gun and it has a coil spring.
Thank you for the information!

If you didn't pay more for the box you are the proud owner of a really fine-looking M37 and some other stuff you can do whatever you want to with.
Very nice little revolver. If it's as good mechanically as it is cosmetically it's a gem.

Other than a light drag line on the cylinder and some minor wear from swinging the cylinder out, it appears close to unfired.

A nice package nonetheless. I have a 1957 Combat Masterpiece and just picked up a box from '59 or '60 for a Combat Masterpiece. They go great together. Blue, 4" barrel, K38. The serial number on the box is within 36,000 of the serial number on the revolver.
