I bought a Model 25-2 1955 Target a few years back. 1975-ish manufacture. It had the original 6-1/2 inch barrel replaced with a very heavy 4 inch barrel made by the Davis Company in Sacramento. Probably some sort of pin gun. Very smooth action.

I bought a new Model 25-2 barrel from a retired gunsmith that was very neatly cut down to 4 inches with a red insert front sight and base installed. My favorite local gunsmith died, and local choice #2 has a turn-around time approaching a year for recreational guns.

I would like to send it home to S&W with the replacement barrel and have them fit it.
