Default My 31-1 Transformation

Bought a S&W 31-1 that was cosmetically challenged, but tight. I sent the cylinder to Hamilton Bowen to have it rechambered to 32 H&R. Now to re-blue. Oxpho Blue, Fail. Wonder Blue, Fail. Put a post on S&W smiting forum to ask about gun finishing. I settled on Mahovsky's Metalife. WOW! Does this 31-1 look nice. Of course I wanted a deep, beautiful blue, but didn't have $350-$400 bucks to invest in a $200 gun. The Metalife treatment $168 which included shipp1ing. Rechamber $100.
This gun now , looks great and shoots fantastic . Super accurate for a snubby. Metalife guarantees their work.
Is original, no. Will it rust, no.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but those grips have gotta go!

Well , sell me some original J-Frame square grips😄. I thought those old Scott grips looked cool 😕 Looks better than the Pachmeyer grips that came on it!

That would make a great back up gun in an ankle holster.

Right. Very accurate. Stacks bullets at 15 yards. 2" groups at 25yards.

They can't all be blue, but that finish will probably last a life time. Nice pick up

I've only taken it out once, but it's a fine shooter. I'm sure you'll feel the same way about the 67. Very accurate and has one of the better triggers I've owned on an s&w.

Luke Duke,

Great transformation!! Regarding the stocks, she is yours and you dress her like you want to. My personal opinion is that period correct walnut grips would not look good against that finish. There is a plethora of stocks for the S/B J frame on flEbay. But it's your money and your gun.
Just remember most ladies don't wears the same shoes everyday. Quick question. Did she have any major pitting or were her cosmetic challenges all surface? hardcase60

No pitting. Just bluing loss from wearing strong side. Whoever wore it trusted their life to this gun ,because I can tell it was worn alot. Shot little.
Must have been a sweaty dude .
His gun lives on though. My 10 year old daughter loves it, as I do. Easy shooting peice, specially for a girl.

That 13-2 has the best double action I've had the chance to shoot. And that's factory. Never touched a screw on that gun.

Default That looks fantastic.

How long did it take to get that cylinder reamed? How about the refinish?
