Probably Mid76 to early 77 (SCSW 2) Might be more info in #3 or from one of our Forum members with more knowledge than me.

The production era sounds correct above. Yours sounds to be in standard factory configuration. The very earliest ones were in the early 400,000 range in 1965, and the R prefix guns started in 1969.

Thanks Guys!

What material is the hammer and trigger? Are they flash chromed? They look stainless? But I thought they got away from that in the very first production run? Because of galling issues?

What's neat is, is still retains the original Flat Satin bead blasted finish. 95% of the ones I see, have been buffed or polished, but this one is original. Has been fired, but lock up is perfect! And dirty as all get out!! I LOVE model 60's.

So THANKS again guys!

The hammer and trigger are forged steel, color case hardened for wear characteristics, then flash chromed.

I wouldn't call the original finish of your gun bead blasted, they have a sort of brushed appearance. If yours is truly a bead blast, it is likely refinished. If you could post a photo, we could likely tell for sure.

Wait. What? The genuine "early" ones came with a polished finish. And diamond grips, just for fun. New ones came with the brushed finish, plain checkered grips and the dreaded "R" serial prefix. I know. Only 10 or 12 years difference in production dates. Sometimes words just don't fit well together. Like honest politician, early "R" prefix, or hot 80 year old babes.
