Default Cylinder sticks in frame!

I have a S & W Mod. 10-5 whose cylinder repeatedly sticks in the frame when you try to swing it out! I've cleaned the gun, polished the chamber, oiled it thoroughly, but it still sticks. Sometimes to to the point of me having to tap it out on the side with a nylon mallot!

HELP!!! What else can I do to fix this problem so that it swings out readily to service the cylinder. Any advise would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Tighten the ejector rod and clean thoroughly under the star are my first thoughts.
I have seen some rods left a touch long that could use some fitting.

Has it always done this, or is this a new problem?

Most likely answer is the cylinder rod has backed out a little. Could also be some crud under the extractor star. It's also possible that the center pin is gummed up so that the bolt doesn't push it in far enough to release the cylinder. Could be crud in the center pin spring . . .

OH MAN! you may have a cruddy Mod-10. When you have the cyl open,
push the center pin forward and see if it clears the front of the ejector rod.
If it does you are fine. Now, push the lug under the barrel fwd to see if it is free. Your center pin may need to be stretched a bit, maybe not. Or check to see if the ejector rod is screwed in all the way. Best

She's a new acquisition. Purchased online. I'm not getting a response from previous owner, so he's no help at all. Of course sold as is so it is what it is.

Cleaned her as soon as I got her in. Center pin seems to move pretty freely and flush with the frame, as well as it looks like the center pin is moving the locking pin out well too. Enough? That's what I don't know?

After all that, sounds like a backed out rod to me. It is also possible that the crane/yoke is bent from snapping the cylinder shut Hollywood style . . .
