Default GAAACK!

That was the sound I made when I took my 4" 29-2 out of the case at the range today. It appeared to be corroded over 100% of the metal surface.

Turned out the furry lining of the new gun rug I used for the first time transferred a bunch of sticky lint to the gun. Used an oiled paper towel to wipe off most of it and it cleaned up later at home.

But that was quite a moment...

Back in the day, at end of shift, I removed my Beretta 92f from my Sam Brown Holster and discovered that the barrel was rusted from breach to muzzle! Closer inspection showed the "rust" to be taco sauce from a hastily eaten lunch in the front seat of my unit.

Beats me how some of those gun rugs ever originated. I got one with a S&W once and it must have been many years old, and had a little mildew odor. every time I took the gun out it felt gummy to the touch. After just a couple times the gun rug went into the trash.

I still say it. Dates back to the Bill the Cat days of Berkeley Breathed's "Bloom County" comics, which can be found again these days on Facebook.

SP is awarded Entertaining Thread of the Day for clever use of "Gaaack!"

Both educational and informative (for some)!

GAAACK! is a natural sound made at times of unpleasant surprise.

The old cartoon character Kathy (Cathy?) also used to say "GAAACK" a lot. I think the Kathy comic strip vanished from the newspaper funnies maybe 10 years ago. I always liked it when it was running.

I believe the artist stopped producing cartoons when her cancer got too bad to work and she died shortly thereafter. Or maybe I am thinking of another cartoonist? I still miss Calvin And Hobbs and The Far Side. Both creators simply retired at a young age having enough money to not need to work any longer.

One of my Chiefs had some taco sause on his Glock. As I normally had him half $! $*d off at me due to my antics, I didn't want to point it out. As dept armorer I told him I had got a recall notice on his early issue glock and needed to replace springs. Cleaned gun, replaced spring cups ( they were iffy) and returned. Eeing thru my ruse, Asst chief whispered in my ear, " Corpral, I guess even a heathen from Amarillo knows not to kick a sleeping dog!" Kept me out of trouble that day.

Definitely "Bill the Cat" from Bloom County.

I don't think my mutt Murphy (AKA The Murfinator, King high potentate of the Murphaginites) ever read Bloom County, however he is the GAAAAAK! master. Has done it at least twice a day for the past nine years.

I have to retract my early reference to the comic strip Cathy (with a C - It ran until 2010). Cathy always said AAACK!, not GAAACK! I looked it up on Wikipedia - it's all there.

Thumbs up not always as it seems!

I traded for a little Colt 1908 vest pocket .25 onetime that the owner and my Son told me it was pitted pretty bad all over. Upon inspecting the gun, I noticed that what they were calling pitts, actually had a pattern to it similar to fabric. The old ancient nylon holster it was in had kind of decomposed and stuck to the gun. I used my thumbnail and some WD40 and it cleaned up nice. Good little gun too. I like GAAAACK!

I used to take my ankle gun down to the garage and blow some compressed air through it before I cleanes it. Got the lint, leg hairs, wooly stuff from the holster, etc out pretty quick. made cleaning the evil little toad easier. (I couldn't shoot it worth a durn)
