Happy you got it
Semi-ridiculous price. Your 27-2 wouldn't have lasted an hour in a shop around here. Even without stocks, I would have been thrilled to buy that gun for the price you paid.
One of my shooting buddies turns 50 this year. I would have bought the gun and added a letter "F" to the stock and presented Fred with a righteous birthday present.

Nice acquisition there, Red, which is what I thought when I saw the first pic. But with the pres case and new-looking tools? I think the RED stands for "really excellent deal."

That IS the orig box BTW, mid-70's that's how they were pkgd, w/ broader H/T-- full targets rather than magnas, wooden case. I've looked at many such sets, own N362xxx. Even LAST summer I saw many such sets sell GB $1200, up to $1400 (w/ clean stocks of course). They don't seem to have moved much since (as opposed to the slightly earlier combat/magna combos) but still-- you paid 60 cents on the dollar, and it looks like yours has a pretty-good polish, for the era-- we should all be so lucky!

You're darned lucky that gun was still there. It looks "right as rain" to me - and with the presentation case to boot! Congratulations on your new .357!

I'd be on that one like ugly on an ape.

I agree that it's a great deal and I also agree that the 5 inch 27-2 is the best balanced barrel length..

Red Adair crossed my mind also, when I saw those grips. He lived and died in Texas, so a factory letter might just be in order to see where it letters to. You just never know.
