Very nice. I have its younger brother from 1980. I need to get out and shoot it more often.

Are you the original owner?

The reason I ask and maybe it's just me but it doesn't appear that the gun has a 1974 vintage barrel. Regardless, it's still a nice piece.

Nice gun!

I have a nickel 4'' from that time (74ish) It has shot a lot of heavy loads and has 2 deer to its credit. It does have Packs for grips!

Of course it has fired a lot of standard loads also over the years. (44 specials or equivalent hand loads) and all and all the gun is doing fine.

Very nice. The rich, dark target stocks contrast nicely with the nickel.

Must be just me. I don't recall ever seeing the read ramp front sight on a gun of that vintage with a step in the rear of the blade just before it meets the sight base, regardless of barrel length. See the gun in the classified on the other Smith & Wesson Forum.

Now, if the blade was changed after it left the factory, all bets are off. Anyway, like I said, it's a nice 4" M29-2.
