I only went to buy ammo!
Stop me if you've heard this one before ...
Was feeling a little 1911-ish, so I went to my LGS to buy some .45 acp. (I try to patronize them instead of the big box stores whenever I can.) Wasn't planning on buying a firearm (I swear!) ... but then I made the mistake of looking in the used gun case. And there is was ... ... one I have been after ... a model 10-5 in near minty condition with its box (1968 vintage). Needless to say, I came home with something besides four boxes of .45 acp ...

Stop- I've lived, err...heard this one already.
Beautiful revolver, sir. It would've been a mistake to pass that one up.

Nice revolver! One time I went to buy a pound of Red Dot. Just a single pound of powder, I swear. It was the most expensive pound of powder I ever purchased. It came with a vintage Woodsman included in the deal.

Yep, ammo buying can often become a costly, but rewarding venture. Been there, done that, OFTEN. But, I do rather enjoy it.

Don't tell us you left without buying something to use up those four boxes of .45 ACP?
Nice find!

I wonder how many threads here would pop up if you searched for "I wasn't looking to buy another gun but..." or similar for the title.
Nice looking piece, 357magster.

I know the feeling. Last week I drifted into my LGS to kill some time and ended up with a very nice sock drawer 1910 Browning .380 at a very decent price.

Aloha,
Could be worse,
I walked in and walked out with 3 M-57s.
Waiting the 2 weeks was the hardest.
I ended up with a nice 4", 6" and 8 3/8"
Slightly used Blue M-57s for $1500.
Don't remember if the boxes came with them.
Good thing I was single back then.

Has happened to me a couple times.
Last was a NIB Ruger MKII SS slab side.
Some things just can't be avoided

Very nice. I just picked up a 1968 vintage 10-5 in almost that nice of condition back in May. But mine is a round butt 4” barrel and no box.

Magster;
No, that sort of thing is NOT 'spontaneous'.
I've thought about buying a really good condition pinned barrel K frame .38 Special when the price was right for any number of years. (And done it, once or twice.)
Good find, good thinking, good buy. Delightful revolver.
And just think! If you hadn't purchased that revolver and given it a good home, some cretin might have bought it and never really appreciated it.

I think it would be easier to count the times I went out thinking "I'm going to buy a new gun today".
My wife and I stopped to check out a new shop and range on the way to supper a few months ago. We left with a Remington RM 380. She's an enabler.

You are so right! My first was a first year 586 I bought from Warshall's in downtown Seattle. I still have it and it makes me grin almost like the day I bought it. I'll never sell it.

Nice 10-5. I've got one that I bought new in 1970. The hell of it is, back then, blue ones were $76.50 and nickel ones were $84.50. M36's were the same price. Of course, I was making about $80 a week back then, so I guess it all averages out in the end.

Due to powder shortages I hit three stores in one day looking for powder for my .357/.44 handguns. At the second store I went to I found a Pre 28 Highway Patrolman at what I felt was a great deal. Never did find a pound of powder.
