Shooter Grade 27-2 For Just Under $500?
Would you jump on it?
Lock up is tight. Bluing is worn in the usual places. Six inch barrel. Original grips.

I don't personally like 6" barrels on N-frames but, if it's not a dog, I would buy it without hesitation.

Yes, that is a Taurus price for a great gun.
I have a shooter grade 28-2 and I love it, despite its finish imperfections.
In fact, since it isn't pristine, it almost always ends up in my range bag when I make a trip.

My only question would have been "will you take a check or credit card?" I would not have walked away assuming it is in good mechanical condition.

I'd buy it even if I didn't want it! It would be an excellent gun to have for a possible trade. And having the original grips is a big plus too.

Duh! Of course I would! If it's shooter grade, get it and shoot it.
Heck, I'd drive to Spokane for that deal - I could always tell my daughter I came over just to see her.
California is probably way worse than Oregon and Washington, too, considering what can (almost nothing) and can't (almost everything) be brought in from out of state.

I probably would not but that is because I like K frames much better than N frames. That said, the price is right. Do it if the gun sits right with you.

Thanks for the replies.
I passed it up because NEED outweighed WANT. Already have two k frames and a new l frame.

PM me which one - I'll be there Monday when the open the doors.
Around here 5 bills is a good price for a Model 28-2, let alone a 27-2.

If it's in good mechanical condition, that would be a great buy in my neighborhood. Even with some cosmetic issues, it would still bring $700+.

I scored a 5 inch 27-2 about five years ago for $500 and it was a great deal then, even better now. Superb shooters.

I did jump on it - picked it up this morning. Bluing is definitely worn - looks like a lot of holster time. It's an "S" prefix; S2675xx.
$450 cash, plus 9.5% tax.
Took a couple of pictures but they were blurry - I guess my technique needs work. Or my hands a little more steady.
Thanks for the heads up, Kanew.

Let's see if these come out any better...
As you can see there's quite a bit of bluing loss, but this is going to become my hiking in the woods gun. It isn't going to hurt the "value" if it gets more holster wear, or gets perspired on. The original stocks are chipped, scratched and not numbered to the gun - I'll replace them with something a bit easier to grasp with sweaty/wet-from-rain hands; I have Pachmayr's in both finger-groove and non-finger-groove configurations in my "extra grips" drawer.

So was I. I called Monday to see if it was still available and they told me it had been put on hold by someone else. I asked them to call me if that person chose not to purchase it; fully expecting that it was as good as gone. Got a call late yesterday that the person never showed up. Asked if they'd extend me the same courtesy and hold it for a day until I could get there, and they did.

Glad it worked out. They're good people. Been dealing with them for close to 20 years.

Nice find. They're usually a bit high on their prices, so it's good to see you got a deal. A fresh set of grips and you are all set!

...yeah...I would have had to have jumped on that deal...even though my wife would have given me the evil eye...I've already bought more guns this year than I should have...there's a big 700 table gun show tomorrow...debating whether I should risk the evil eye and go...

Son-of-a-gun, you're right! I just measured it. 6.5 inches. Never occurred to me - I just looked at it, knew it wasn't 4", 5" or 8-3/8" so just assumed it was 6".
Thanks for mentioning it!

I'm glad it found a good home with someone who appreciates it.
That was a great deal for a fine shooting handgun.
I thought it was a 6-1/2 inch barrel, but two others beat me to the buzzer. Oh well, in double jeopardy the scores can really change!
