Mod 19-3 ser # K2 60
Today I saw a 19-3 with an odd serial number. The gun has target grips without diamonds.
The serial number is K2 60 and it is marked inside the crane and on the box. I was told the same number is on the butt. Would this revolver be the 60th gun of the 19-3 series? If so, would that be of any significance? Thanks, Dean

Dean - IMO, that can't be serial number for a 19-3.
Remove the Target stocks and look on the butt of the grip frame for proper serial number

My guess is that the K2 and the 60 are inspection numbers in the crane area and someone over the years has made a phoney box label to match those numbers.
(and never actually looked under the stocks for proper serial number on butt)

I can't wait to see where this goes! We're one screw away from finding out.

Number could be 2K60 dating to 1970-71.

Hey Guys,
I am a little dyslexic . I am waiting for a return call to verify if the number is 2k60 (I thought it was k2 60) as Doc suggested. I'll post as soon as I get a reply. Thanks, Dean

Gentlemen,
Doc hit the nail on the head. The number is 2K60. Same number inside crane and on butt. The box and paperwork look aged about right. Thanks to all. Dean

Not unlikely to have some significance. Here's a 19-3 I had in my possession for a short amount of time with serial number 2K12. Was engraved by Angelo Bee for the founder of Safariland back in the day. So it likely had some significance, just not enough to be held at the factory and engraved by them. Although work by master engraver Angelo Bee is a very, very close second.

Actual 2K production range for 1970 was 2K1 through 2K22037. So yours was serialized in 1970.
The 2K numbers were spread out over three years: 1970-1972.
