Default Help Identify

My Father passed, I have his S&W 38 Spec....No Model Number on Gun, and No paperwork. It is a Compact Revolver, Snub Nose, Exposed Hammer, and Wood Checkered Grips. The Serial Number on the bottom of the Grip is "619XXX".....Can someone Please Help me Identify Model and Approx Year of Manufacture. It is in Pristine condition with very little use. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Forum.

Have you looked on the frame behind the yoke when the cylinder is open? Should be a "MOD 36" back there.

That looks a Model 36 Chief's Special to me.

Welcome! Here is a good post showing information needed for an ID (in your case, an easy one ):

To IDENTIFY your Gun >

It is probably from 1966 or '67. Hope this is helpful.
