Default Online "Rescue" Model 13-1 ***MORE PICS ADDED***

This is a shooter.....nothing more. No hidden collector value etc. Just one of the best duty revolvers S&W ever made. I have a very nice example from Anchorage AK PD in my collection.

But, I bought this one ,made in 1977 with a "2d" series serial number, for shooting/carrying. A set of Hogue finger groove grips with go on it & I have several HKS speedloaders. Stoked w/ 125 JHPs , it'll be perfect for CCW purposes. It was in an online auction and...yes I wildly overpaid for it.

Best,
Charles

If you already wildly overpaid, I'd throw some more good money at it and letter it. Given the very distinct wear (and unless the lighting deceives me, the right stock panel shows asymmetrical rub-off), I could never resist the temptation to throw the dice hoping to find out where it served ...

......and the backstrap has no blue left on it either. The seller said it came out of a lot of police confiscations. But, they sell hundreds of guns a week. So, he couldn't be certain. It could very well a retired service revolver.

It is "pinned & recessed" too!

Best,
Charles

Nice. Did that one letter or does it have a dept. stamping somewhere?

It isn't department marked.

The wholesaler I ordered it from told me that Anchorage traded all of their 13's to them when they transitioned to Glocks.
It shipped to a distributor in Washington state.

However, I got a letter from the Anchorage PD armorer confirming its' history as a duty weapon with the agency by serial number.

Best,
Charles

Whoa and wow! While I very much admire your devotion to the brand..... I'm not certain that I could be as devoted........ And I will buy almost any old smith revolver! But, you sir, are to be congratulated for the devotion to the cause and the commitment to our reverence to the past!
Now, tomorrow, go see the Doctor...... You are in desperate need of professional help.....!

Glad you are enjoying it, but that gun look way too trashed for me to own. My uncle's model 10, thst banged around NYC for 35 years, didn't look anywhere near as bad as that. Looks like someone threw it off a truck into a gravel driveway.

What is not to like about a Model 13! I bought a 13-2 as an impulse last Sept. gun show. It was so nice, I could not leave it. I was amazed at how well it shoots! Enjoy your 13's! Bob
