Default Model 19 (19, 19-1, 19-3, 19-4)--Please join me

These are presented as I did on the Model 27 thread, but these are the great .357 Combat Magnum which are known here as the Model 19. These K-frame revolvers are just as nice as a Model 27, but lighter.

This is my 1978 Model 19-4. It's a pinned and recessed package with some Tyler stock additions that I bought here. It may be the only revolver that you will ever need:

This is a Model 19-3 in nickel. I bought it here (it shoots well---1973):

This is also a 19-3 and in blue (also a 1973). It's a Texas Ranger:

I bought this Model 19-1 (a ~1961) here. It is just a great revolver. Everything works very perfectly:

I found this Model 19 (a ~1960) on the local market. It's my favorite one:

I really like the Model 19 Combat Magnums for their utility and great finish. Does anyone else have one?

Well this is just great.

I click on a thread and now I have to find me a pinned and recessed nice model 19 to add to my small collection. Hope it will like my no dash 66.

Now what barrel length...

The M19 in the 2.5" RB configuration is arguably the nicest looking Revolver Smith ever made.

Got some but they are mixed in with my 27's and 17's. I truly want to apologize to the S&W forum members, as I don't know how that PYTHON got in there. I think it was because someone here said everybody needs at least one .

That's ok with the Python but just don't let it happen again!

Nice guns everyone. OP, the 19 is a "Combat Magnum" - not a "Combat Masterpiece" - though it certain is a masterpiece (masterwork) IMHO.

Only 19 I have is this 19-5. I paid too much, but around here they're as rare as hens teeth.

Okay. I'll play.

A few from my stable:
Both of these are 19-3. The 4" nickel example is wearing Magna stocks because I prefer to shoot it that way. It came with target stocks as nearly all of the square butts did.

This one is probably my favorite. Obviously the ivory stocks were added (by me).

Yes - in rimfire. The .38 Combat Masterpiece became the Model 15.
Here's a Model 15-2 4", along with a 5" special order Combat Masterpiece from 1952.

No, and neither do you, unless it was mis-marked. Do you mean Combat MAGNUM? Combat Masterpiece is a Model 15 or 67 (stainless.) Or the USAF snub M-56.

I feel a bit left out. I've owned 6-7 blued M-19's, in all three usual bbl. lengths. But my modern preference is the stainless M-66-3. Will there be stainless ones seen here?

Jeff Cooper made a good point about the six-inch M-19/66 being a great trail gun for the backpacker wanting full .357 power in a gun lighter than a M-27/28 or a L-frame.

I suspect that others will make my point about the Combat Magnum name issue. I also suspect that you just need a cup of coffee to jog your memory? ( P.S.: I hadn't read all prior posts before making this one. I saw later that some indeed raised that name issue.)

Many years ago, when I was a young fellow, Skeeter Skelton, and Bill Jordan pretty well convinced me that the 4", Model 19 was the ideal gun to have if you were only going to have one gun. So, my first handgun was a 4" Model 19, probably a -4, but I didn't even know there were such things as "dash" numbers.

I'm not even sure how many I've had since then, but they have all had 4" barrels, and for the most part, target stocks. I've sold and traded them for one reason or another.

These days, I think I like the Model 15 a little better, but it's pretty close. The 15 is a little lighter, and handles a little better for me. Not that it really matters...the only way I carry either is in a range bag.

But I do still have one 19, a -4.

What is it? Looks new and the ejector rod area looks different than the rest.

Default M19

I guess I will have to post a pic of my 4 screw 4" M19 no dash that is still mint in its original box with tools. It was shipped to Williams Gun sight Corp 2-1960. One of my favorites. Big Larry

Would that by any chance be an FHP revolver? Those are the only 5" Nickel 19's I've ever seen.

This is my 19-5 round butt snubby that shipped in September 1988. The combat stocks came with the gun when I bought it, but they aren't original to the gun. They're stamped inside "NOV 29 88" -- my birthday!

sandspur6...this 19-2 is not one of the FHP revolvers. This one was made for Bob Loveless the famous knife maker and shipped about four years before the FHP revolvers.

How about another 6" barrel Model 19? This Model 19-4 was the first P&R Smith and Wesson I bought. It is still my favorite handgun and always within reach when I'm out at the ranch.

Not trying to be a wise guy, but it would depend on who is selling and who is buying. I am pretty sure I would not let it go for $5K. Don't really know what my price would be. They a super hard to find.

I bought a 19-2, 3-inch, in the original box about five years ago for $3600. Not sure what they would sell for today.
