Default Version 2.0 Not a Smith guy but couldn't pass these by.

A few weeks ago I showed off a consec set of Smith 36-1 guns (thread link...... Not a Smith guy but couldn't pass these by )

I finally got the next 2 pairs. Still have the factory coating Even the wax paper still looks new on these guns.

You can see the pics of the blued guns here (consec serial numbers)

Here is the 2nd set of nickels (Just like the set I got a few weeks ago but these are Round Butt.)

Also, consec serial numbers, crisp wax paper and still covered with the factory preservative.

I could be wrong but, I believe that you are blackmailing a S&W collector and making him sell you their consecutive numbered revolvers!

Good show!

Was there any story to the guns? How did the guy acquire them? Simply collection guns or did he have a purpose to the consec numbers?

Several yrs back I bought a pair of consecutively numbered 29-2's with 4" barrels, YELLOW insert frt sights, smooth target stocks and a smooth combat trigger. Part of an estate sale. The mans Son stated they had been purchased with thoughts of having them engraved.

But the owner never sent them out.

Just wondering the WHY and HOW of your guns.

All I know is they were originally purchased by an FFL who has decided its time to retire and "cash out". They have supposedly been sitting in his safe for all these years. He is not as collector and internet savvy so a younger, more "hip" FFL bought most/all of his collection and is selling it. That is where I got them. These guns were only in the new guys possession for a few days and none have ever been registered to an owner. They have been on the 1st guys books for 40 years or so and then moved to the 2nd guy who had them long enough to log them in, take a few pics and ship them to me. I never really know how much of these stories are true, but the condition of everything pretty much says they have sat in a controlled safe for their lifetime. He actually has one more consec pair of blued mdl 36's but I didnt want them.

I think the guns look great.

So does the wax paper. Too good, actually. I am not an expert on S&W wax paper, but that does not look like the wax paper used with revolvers of that vintage. Too much text. In addition, having seen new S&Ws arrive from the distributor during that period and since, for 30+ years, I assure you that the wax paper is not folded in the manner used by factory packers of the era. And, once the paper is unfolded and the gun unpacked, it is next to impossible to fold it back as it originally was, and then the paper ends up crinkled in all the wrong places.

Those square end folds are not normal.

That said, the guns are great. And, so is the wax paper!

I cant say much about the wax paper but I do still have pics of a 36-1 Target from 1975 that I sold recently. The pics of the wax paper are not as good but it looks to be the same paper. Its been folded/unfolded quite a bit more and wasn't in nearly as good of a condition but it has lots of blue printing on it. Again the pics are not good as I wasn't taking shots of the paper at the time I sold it, but the paper on that 1975 gun appears to be the same as my new acquisitions.
