Default Model 29-2 Scope Mount

Hey , i have an oppurtunity to pick up a 29-2 for a decent price it has been fitted with leuopold scope. The original owner assures me it was mfg from smith with no rear sight and the rail drilled and tapped . Ive looked in the book and find no mention that the -2 had that as an option i know the -3 do . just curious because value will be drasticlly different

You find no mention because there wasn't one. It's a pile of B.S.

The only true scope mounts I’ve seen are slots in the rib to accommodate scope rings. This may only be available on the 629, not sure on that one. The package came with the rings included.

They came with a rear sight.

Had one like that on a 29-3. Replaced it with an open sight. Killed deer in both configurations with it.

"Drastically Different" price,, if you mean less as apposed to more expensive count me in, both my 29's that way. At age 68 can't hit a pie plate a seven yards, but with the scope set-up X-7 dead on at 25yds.
