Every barrel length 27-1 set
Well...I found the last one. The long tube. That makes a complete set of blued 27-1's.
All together....
It was a fun journey to find them all. Now I gotta locate some nickel ones! I've never seen one..
If anyone else has one or more 27-1's I'd love to see them!
Thanks for letting me share.

Thank you for patiently rounding these family members up so they can be together. Thanks for sharing. Just trying to put together all the barrel lengths for any 27-anything is difficult enough...highly impressive that you did it with the elusive dash-one!

Dang it! You guys always make me feel so inadequate. But it's worse because I can't simply go to a plastic surgeon for a S&W collection enhancement.

Quite an accomplishment and very nice looking revolvers.
Um...they didn't make any 4" or 6.5" 27-1s?

Way to go Mike. Very very nice. I gotta ask how long did it take to find them all?

No 4" that I know of, not a regular production barrel length until 1979.....and take a look back at my pics, 6.5" is there.

3 years...which is much faster than I anticipated finding them. I've been pretty aggressive in the hunt though.

I noticed you added a T-grip on the 3.5 between pictures, was wondering if it is blue or bright stainless because I am thinking of putting a bright stainless on my blue 3.5 with stags, and was wondering how the blue and stainless T-grip would look togather...................................M*

Great job putting that set together. Hard enough to round up the various barrel lengths of the 27-1's, but to have them all in such high condition, ... wow! Thanks for sharing and congrats,
Jerry

My only 27-1 is a long tube one, which you've seen before (but I'll post it again)...

I missed the 6.5. Good job.
But I would still bet there's a 4" example lurking out there. We know they were regularly produced even though not in the catalog.

This is my pre-27-shipped September 13, 1959 -8/38 inch nickel long tube. I love 27's. I have had the gun lettered and a copy appears below.

Ive only seen a handful of special order 4" Pre 27's...
If they were regularly produced I'd love to see and read about some 4" 27 no dash or 27-1's if you can show me some...

Great set of 27-1s!!! You should display them at an annual symposium of the S&WCA (like, next year in Charlotte?).

That's an awesome set of 27-1's.
Passed up a 98% 5" many years ago, and have been kicking myself ever since.

Recently found a 4" 27-2......... all my research and info from Forum members...... agreed that 4" 27 were not in "regular production" until the 27-2 when the 3 1/2 and 5 inch guns were discontinued in 1979/80 (?)....... but most indicated that they could be special ordered.
SWEeeeeet set!!!!!!!!
Would be cooool to add a 4 inch.......just cus it would make you
LOL........thinking about it .......mine is actually a " Model 27-1 1/2" as the cylinder is recessed but the barrel is not pinned

Wouldn't that make it a "27-2 1/2"? Almost a 27-3?
Yeah I've had several 4" 27-2's over the years...great shooters. I've seen a few Pre27 4" special orders... I don't recall ever seeing a 4" 27 no dash or 27-1. And no one I've ever spoken with has either...

I really just walked into it, saw an 8 3/8 N frame laying on the counter at the LGS and rolled open the cylinder to expose a 27-1 looking at me. It was mine before I closed it up.

Do you have a 27-1?

Very nice dash 1 collection !
Dont know how I missed this thread in August...?
While I have never seen a 27-1 with a 4" barrel putting one together wouldn't be that difficult ... Wink
Wondering if anyone has looked up when the orders came down from Management for the dash 1 revision change and when it was implemented ?
Would love to know how close the dash 1 revision order and the dash 2 revision order happened for comparison.
While I dont have any N frame dash 1's have the following K serials to compare although there is a big gap between my dash 1 and dash 2:
Mod 19, Serial K 422034 Shipped May 1961
Mod 15-1 Serial K 436822 Shipped June 1961
Mod 19-1 Serial K 466523 Shipped Nov. 1962
Mod 19-2 Serial K 521358 Shipped April 1964
Im guessing that the supply of R hand threaded cylinders was probably mostly used up first before the changeover but wondering if the two changes were purposely staggered to allow time for the changeover and prevent mix n match Dash 1's and dash 2's ?
PS the deletion of the barrel set pin in late 27-2's required no revision change as it did not change a "Part" but simply to cease drilling the set pin hole in the frame ,
On a side note I removed a barrel from a non pinned dash 2 once and that barrel was cut for the set pin.
