Default Sight question on new-to-me model 14-3

hi,

Just got my first S&W revolver! It's a model 14-3 that I want to use in a Distinquished Revolver match this weekend. While sighting it in I noticed the rear sight screws don't "click". Is that normal for these older revolvers?

Thanks,
Jab

It probably does, but the "clicks" on S&W sights are quite soft and often cannot be heard or felt unless paying extremely close attention.

In addition to the previous post, there is another possibility - there could be some "gunk" in there softening the "click" even further.

Naturally, I suppose it is possible that someone did some "home gunsmithing" and lost the tiny detents and springs? Only an examination could tell for sure.
