Default grips for S&W revolvers

Hi guys! New member so be gentle.l
Seem to be having trouble finding smooth wood, target type, non-finger style grips for N frame w/o spending a fortune. A nice set of walnut grips would be an answer. Also, recently saw a pic of a j- frame RB w/ Badger bonded ivory grips, looked great but Badger does not seem to list this item. A little help? Any info. would be gratefully
received.
Thanks a bunch!

Hi Thomas and Welcome.
The classifieds here, Ebay, Gunbroker, and the like are all good places to hunt for them.
I don't recall seeing many smooth out of walnut but a nice set of Goncalo Alves should be find able.

There is also a member here Kurac that will make you a set.
Top Notch guy I'll add.
This is a set he made for my son

How does this for $70 look?

The Ahrends Retro Target is one of my favorites.

Those Smooth targets are a downfall of mine.
I can't really afford the cool guns but I can dress my shooters nice.

Thanks Sir
A friend and Mentor Sebago son got me hooked on these.
Been learning and accumulating since.
Pretty blessed as far as most of my finds go.

Rosewood and birdseye maple just laying around the house. Must be nice. I guess you have your Ropers as bookends in the den.

Wish Sebago son would post here again. I really enjoyed learning from him when i first joined.

Default Kurac, aka: Culina Grips

Here is the next set of grips Jon Culina is doing for my Model 25-5. I'm getting them checkered but this is what they looked like before that.

And this is what they'll look like once the checkering is done.

Jon's work is superb.

Not sure if Altamont grips would have what you are looking for but you might check their site. And you can have them with or without the S&W medallion.

Another place to look is Ahrends grips. He does some good work and I have many sets of his on my revolvers but I am a K Frame guy.

A good place to see what you are buying with his products is to go to EBAY and put in Ahrends grips and a large selection will pop up. The seller, who usually had them for 70 or 90 depending on the finish is Gripseller and usually uses a green background behind her products. What you see in the picture is what you will get.

She is off of EBAY until August 23rd though so if you go look now you won't find any of her many listings. I figure probably on vacation.

Good luck.

Default N- frame grips

Firstly, I want to thank every one for the cordial, even enthusiastic response to my initial foray into the forum.
Several fellows sent very useful info, and I enjoyed viewing the awesome collections. I would like to hear further from any members who may have items they would be willing to part with.
In any case, I'm looking forward to more time with other like minded individuals in future. Good shooting!

Thomas, there are literally several dozen options out there for grips for your Smith and Wessons.

Look through the forums and check out pictures that other members post as probably close to half of the Smith and Wessons on here have some kind of customized grip on them.

You will see the term/name John Culina/Kurac grips.

He makes smooth target style and other style grips that are top notch.

Have to laugh. Guy says "w/o spending a fortune", and you guys are showing him Kurac grips.

Welcome to the FORUM! I have had luck with finding grips/stocks on ebay. Just make sure you read and ask questions. Some of the Thailand stocks are nice. Herrett has some smooth target stocks. Can't have enough wood! Gun shows are another possibility. Bob

All depends on the OP's personal parameters of "spending a fortune" .

At a certian point one is spending for collectability and/ high grade wood. Plan B is for good shooting, while not being ugly.

Of the latter, in addition to the above Ahrends, Eagle offers several choices of that general style, with subtle differences.

Contact Badger about their current availability. Don Collins ( Collins Custom Grips) offers lots of styles in a large variety of grip materials.

I got Ahrends grips today from "Gripseller" on eBay . The price is the same as ordering direct from Ahrends, EXCEPT, you get to see what you are going to get in terms of wood grain and color, and you get your grips in a few days vs 12 weeks.
I hated the black rubber grips that came with my S&W 617. Now the gun looks great with the retro square butt wood.
