Model 33
I am trying to get some info on a Model 33. I am sure there are threads but they are not appearing when I search. I have a 33 with serial number 865XX. Does anyone have a rough idea as to age/ship date?

The SCSW has quite a range for that (.38 Regulation Police). Serial number range 54475 - 122678 were made from 1949 to 1969.
You can narrow that down a little since yours apparently has a model number under the yoke. They didn't assign model numbers until 1957-58, so yours was made sometime between then an 1969.
Remember - .38 S&W is NOT .38 S&W Special. The British designation for the cartridge was the .38/200 and a number of the Victory revolvers were chambered for that round.

Hi Bob,
There is no model number listed, but was told it was an early Model 33. There is no model number stamped on the crane. I was hoping the serial number would narrow it down.

If there is no model number under the yoke, then, given the serial number you specified, I'd guess that it's "born on" date is pretty close to the defining date of 1957.

As a point of interest regarding the Model 33 and Pre. 33 quite a number in your number range will have BCN marked on the backstrap, this stands for
Bank Canadien National, they were sold into the Canadian market in the 1970s or there about, great revolvers at a good price many with flat latches.

It sounds that you are looking right at this gun. It indeed does have BCN on the backstrap. I presume is was a bank guard's gun for what is now National Bank. Would that be accurate?
Do you have more info on the model? I am now really intrigued as a history buff.
