Default Dad's Smith & Wesson revolvers.

Dad was an Idaho State Trooper from 1973-1994. Among his firearm's collections these are two of my favorites that I will be holding onto until my time comes.

The special order Model 686 that Smith & Wesson made for Idaho State Police to commemorate that organizations 50th Anniversary (1939-1989). Came in a wood presentation box. Dad was very proud of this revolver. Never fired and it never will be. That's how he wanted it.

Here is the Smith & Wesson Model 65 (357 Magnum) that dad actually carried from 1979 - 1991 (when ISP switched to the S&W Model 4586 auto pistol). It was a worker bee and I have already taken it to the range and fired it. It's meant to be used.

The Model 65 is a great duty gun and it looks like your Dad kept his in good shape. Have fun with it.

I agree, what a great looking 65 with a story that would make me proud to own it and carry it. They'd have to pry it from my cold, dead hands.

Very nice. Love the 686. To me, it's the ultimate state trooper pistol.

Thanks for sharing your father's firearms. What part of Idaho are you from? I grew up way north in Bonners Ferry.

I grew up by Idaho Falls - which is where dad worked for most of his career as a state trooper. I now live in the Caldwell-Nampa area here in southwestern Idaho.

Very nice. I'm envious. Treasure them always. When my Dad passed I got all of his guns. The one I treasure the most is Model 10-8. Except for the original grips, which I replaced, I rate it about an 8.5

Treasure those guns! I am leaving my duty guns (well, and a bunch of others) to my sons as well. I know from the kind of men that they are, that they will keep them and pass them down to my grandchildren. I don't often shoot mine anymore, but they have each had thousands of rounds through them, and I doubt that continuing to shoot them will do any harm.

Thank you for sharing.

Best Regards, Les

First, my condolences. Second, Thanks to you and your Dad for your service to both our country and our communities. I live in Rigby and work in IF, so good to see quality in our area.

Finally, those are beautiful firearms. Anyone would be proud to have those in their possession. Your Father provided you with a great legacy.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. My dad wasn't a big handgun guy but when he died back in 2003 he did leave me some very nice rifles. I gave my son three of them and will pass the others on to him one day.

Small world. My folks place is just a couple miles outside of Rigby off of Highway 48. I actually went to school with Robert Broulim. Elementary and middle school that is. I attended Idaho Falls for high school (Class of 1986).
