Default Nickel Mod-49 Humpback

Was in my LGS today and the counter guy brings out a mod-49 nickel in mint shape for [unfired since it left the factory] $600.00. Are these any at all rare, it looks very nice but I don't know much about the mod-49. I think I had seen one other years ago. was wondering if there at all scarce and if the price is in the ball park...................................Thanks..M*

Not rare but nice ones, as the one you describe don't grow on trees. Does it have a box? If not, in the mint condition you describe, $500 would be a Dandy deal in my neck of the woods - that's just what I have been seeing. I have been looking for the one like that under $500 for some time and haven't pulled it off yet. Good luck,

Price seems about right, I have seen a few nice 49s and 38s in this region, but none in nickel.

The ones I saw were north of $500.00
