Default M-27-2, 8 3/8 nickle

Not dead sure of model number.....pinned & recessed for sure......this gun was at a Sat auction. I previewed it & several other guns in a short space of time I was allowed on Weds.. I made a bid on it, auctioneer told me this morning I got it.........

I have had a 2 clasp S&W box for 8 3/8 for some time. Barrel points to the right. The box has a incorrect green recovering which I will have corrected IF this nickle gun is correct for this box...........

Or do I need more specific info on the gun??? Auctioneer on his way out of state & I wont get the gun until next Weds.

If it is p&r it is a dash 2 or older. I was just shooting my 8 3/8 blue 27-2 the other day. Great shooters.

The presentation case could be correct for your 27-2 if the revolver was shipped in 1979-81. The presentation case was added to the 27-2 in September 1975. The first case used for this model has the revolver pointing to the left. It was replaced by the case you describe in 1979.

The serial number (like N456XXX) would help date your 27-2.

When you get it, the model number will be stamped on the frame in the yoke area. But P&R indicates it is a Model 27-2 or earlier. The 27-2 dates in the 1961-80 period, the 27-3 is no longer P&R. Post some pix when you get it.
