Probably around $500. Hard to tell without good pictures. I'd like to say less, but haven't seen an 18 in decent shape offered for less than $500 in a while. Last two (18-3s) I bought was two years ago; one around 90% as a shooter for $470 and the other one perhaps 98% for $575. Good luck.

I picked up a 18-3 earlier this year that is in excellent shape. I paid $550.00 for it out the door, taxes and fees included. I was happy to get it for that price. I never see them for sale.

I'll concur with Jeff but I'm not an expert and not much help to your question. I have 2 shooter grade 18-4's, one is pinned barrel and one isn't. Both are very clean with original grips (95%+???) but no extras and I wouldn't sell either one for $500. That goes for any other 18's I currently have but IMO, they're all over 90% with factory wood.
Based on it being pinned and condition, I'd say $500 is ballpark fair but pics would help plus you didn't mention what grips it's wearing.

I bought an 18-4 (non-pinned) not too long ago (this year), with box, and papers, original grips that was tagged at $650.00. The only one I'd seen in years. I don't recall exactly what I paid for it, but I probably didn't quibble too much. If I didn't want it, the guy behind me probably did.
I wouldn't sell it now for that.

At auction, a nice 18-4 is bringing in the $700 range most places. I have seen them priced higher. When is the last time anyone has seen one for sale, and how many below $600?

I've seen just two at gun shows around here over the last few years. Both were well used maybe 75-80% and the they were priced around $700.
Model 18s are hard to find. Prices vary depending on location. Its really all about just how bad do you want it?

Saw a real nice one (95%) at a small LGS 2-3 weeks ago....... just shy of $700 IIRC (plus or minus $20-40) of that number)
first one I've seen in quite awhile for sale.......

As others have said, model 18s are hard to find, and their prices reflect that. I believe that a fair number of model 18s were made, but they are still hard to come by.
As an example, I'll tell the story of how I got mine. A few years ago I stopped by a shop where the owner knows me. When I came in he said "Wait a minute, I have something out back you might like." He brought out a model 18 and said "It came in a few days ago, but I haven't priced it yet." I looked it over and asked whether he was ready to price it and sell it. I left with it a little while later. So the gun got sold without ever being put out for display.
That model 18 is still one of my favorites.

When I was looking for one about a year ago, nice ones were $700 and up. I bought a nice 17 so now I'm only looking for bargain 18s. I'd think you could get $600.

After some consideration, my post of $500 may be a little low, more like maybe $600. The $750-800 guns I've seen are the same ones I've seen before at LGS that sellers still had that hadn't came down on price but they may get it. The last 18 I bought was a very clean non-pinned -4 with factory combats for $495. The last 18 I saw sell was to a friend of mine at a LGS. It was a pretty clean -3 with non-relieved targets for $450. This is what I based my price estimates on but I may still be a little low.

Why did S&W make so many different model 22lr revolvers? What is the difference between Model 17 and a Model 18?

I'm in a similar position. I have an unfired 18-3 from 1977 with box and papers etc that I will never shoot. Don't know a market price either.

17s = 6" barrel

It all depends on what part of the country you are in. A 95%+ 18 will cost between 750 and 850 in Western Washington. Not that much less for slightly lower condition. It would be hard to find an 18 in any condition around here for less that 5 bills.

I was looking for a K22 for along time. I recently came across an 18-4 in like new condition with box, docs, and tools for $800. I jumped on it right away. Considering the Ca. Premium, I'm pretty happy.

I bought a Model 18-3 in excellent condition with the box and goodies for $700 about 4 years ago. I think you could easily add $100 to that price in the same top condition today.

We don't see many around here. When and if you do they
are 7-800 if in 95% or better.
I have a 18-2 in 90% plus condition and a pre 18 model in the
box with all the goodies.
I'm not selling either one. And even the shooter grade 18-2
i wouldn't sell for 650. They are too hard to replace.

I bought a 18 here on the forum less than a year ago. Factory
Target hammer & trigger, 99%, $650, I think. Best one I've got.

And S&W also made the model 34s and 35s. The 34s were 4" and shorter barrels and the 35 is a 6" barrel J frame kit gun. A rare one indeed.

The poster wanted some information on pricing. So why don't you share what you paid?

I'll buy all the nice original ones i can find for under 700.
If you see them jump on them like a duck on a june bug.
If you don't the person behind you will.
18's are just neat little guns.

The 17s are basically target revolvers, while the 18 is an "understudy" for 4" .38 special and .357 magnum revolvers.
Here's a picture that will show the physical differences. The top two are Model 17s, with 8 3/8" and 6" barrels. The one on the bottom is a Model 18. Note the difference in the sights and the thickness of the barrels.
