Welcome to the forum. Most likely 1956.
On second thought, does it say MOD 36? Then it would be 1957; seems a bit low, but what do I know
PS: At least acc. to the SCSW, model number stamping didn't start until #125,000, so yours shouldn't with the serial number you gave. It would still be simply a Chiefs Special.

Aha. Then it's mid-1960s, maybe 1966/67. Someone with a database can probably firm that up for you.

Closest SN I show is 5949xx shipping in 2/68. So yours likely shipped sometime in 1968, maybe early 1969. Last 1969 SN is 786544.

Based on the serial number, it is probably from the late 1960s. One check you can use is the style of cylinder release. The flat latch went away c. 1966. So if it doesn't have one of those, it is from 1966 or later. Here's a pic of the last type of flat latch that was used.

Most likely around May or June 1968.
