Default Year?

Hey everyone I'm new here and I know y'all probably get this a lot but I'm wanting to find some info on my pistol I got from my grandfather. Don't want to sell it but would be nice to have some info on it. Here's the info I have, 19k2121 mod 15-3 B9 626656. 4im barrel nickel finish. Don't know how to post pics but I will if someone can tell me how. Also on a iPhone, don't know if that will help with the pic process. Thanks in advance.

The 19Kxxxx numbers were only used in 1978, so that is the year your Model 19-3 was produced. This is interesting because in 1977, the improved version (Model 19-4) was introduced. Since the difference is only in the location of the gas ring, it is not impossible for there to be a late-production 19-3 floating around out there.

I suspect you will be happy with this gun. I also suspect it looks a lot like this one!

Good catch! I obviously misread the post. However, other than my picture and my incorrect citation of the model number, everything else I wrote still applies.

Welcome to the FORUM! Although I do not own a 15, do have a 67 no dash. (stainless 15) It is an early stainless rear sight example. 15's & 67's are fine revolvers. Mine is shown here wearing Herrett target stocks. It currently has magna stocks on it. Bob

Strange, Bob. The picture makes your revolver appear to be blued instead of stainless. Only the trigger and hammer give away the fact that it is a Model 67 and not a Model 15.
This should teach us that pictures don't always tell the story well. A pic isn't necessarily worth a thousand words!

Thanks for the help. Yes it's a .38 special, thought I had said that but I didn't. It looks just like your pic but a .38. I believe my papaws brother once carried it while he was a sheriff. It's definitely gonna be passed down to my daughter. Sorry for the delayed reply. Thought it would be older than 1978 but I'm glad I found out. Have the box and papers that came with it just never say a date.
