Default Scored A Real Nice 17-4

I just scored a real nice 17-4 with a 8 3/8" barrel (1978/79) from my local dealer in a trade for a couple long guns. Since I'm in sunny CA we can't start the paperwork until the middle of the month because he has to hold it for 30 days before selling it and then I'll have to wait the usual 10 days while my background is checked for the umpteenth time. I have a current CA Certificate of Eligibility which required an extensive background check but I got it to go with my Federal CC&R license. But sorry, it doesn't count because the 17-4 isn't 50 years old. I'm all for background checks if they keep firearms out of the hands of those who shouldn't have them but I'm nearly 79 and have had one traffic ticket in my entire life (wonder if that shows up on the check) LOL. Anyway, when this fine revolver is able to come home I'll try to post some pictures. I just can't seem to get this done again.

...a 40 day waiting period to buy an 8 3/8 inch barrel 22lr target revolver is about as ridiculous as it gets...I was at a gun show several years ago...found a Stevens Favorite 22 single shot rifle...tried to buy it..."sorry...the show closes in 15 minutes...no time to do the background check"...so there I was...a 60 year old man with a clean record...and I couldn't buy a single shot 22 in the good old USA...

My Dad, a retired US Marine Master Sgt. with two wars under his belt, went back to Mass., where he was born, with my Mom on vacation. He wandered into a Sporting goods store and saw a Commemorative BB gun. He thought I may like it so he inquired as to the purchase of the BB gun. They told him he was not a citizen of Boston, MA. so as such, he could not even buy a BB gun. They would not even let him handle the BB gun. Fine way to treat a Veteran who saved the world from the Japanese, Germans, and the Chi-Coms, putting his life in harms way, daily.
Beside the fact that my Dad was in his 80's, he could not even buy a BB gun. Now, how stupid is that? Not to let that happen to me. I presently own 145 guns and one machinegun. Big Larry . Free in Utah.

You will love your 17-4 with 8 3/8 inch barrel. Here is a picture of mine that is crazy accurate and it wears a pair of S&W combat grips.

fyimo, that's a beautiful revolver and the grips are gorgeous. Probably the nicest pair of grips I have seen from S&W.
