Default Grandfather's Mod 27-2

Nice gun, I own a blued 27-2 that was given to me by my grandfather. He only shot it twice and then packed it away in his gun cabinet and never touched it again. He ordered it with the wide hammer, wide trigger, checker etching down the top of the barrel. The bluing is exceptional and it's just a very beautiful gun! What would this gun be worth? It came with the 5" barrel. Thanks!

Kawiman40, welcome to the Smith forum. Pictures would be great, especially since you're asking for a price valuation.
It'd be best to start your own thread, you'll get a lot more attention and responses.
Also, the top strap checking has been a standard feature on the N Frame 357 Magnum from 1935 (Registered Magnum) on.

Your grandfather gave you one of Smith&Wesson's top of the line 357 magnums and in the 2nd most popular barrel length, 3.5" be #1.
I saw a nice 5" in the original box at the last AGCA show and it was marked $1000 which I thought was a pretty good price for these days but I had already spent my gun money on something else.
By the way, if it were my grandfather's it would be priceless to me.

Grandpa , you have fantastic taste in guns. Hey, new guy, you got a value, now third drawer down where the sweaters are, put it there. And go shoot it. Best

A 5" N-Frame in 357 Magnum may be the greatest revolver ever made when all things are considered.

That is a heck of an heirloom that you have.

Do you have the original box and papers with it? If so, it is worth at least $1300 - $1400 in my opinion.

If you have just the gun, I would say it is worth at least $1200 if it is as nice as you say.

If you put it up for auction on GunBroker and the right two people fight over it, it could easily get into the mid $2000 range.

We have all seen it happen.

We would love to see pics of it.
