Never used 30-1, Box, oil paper
I'm seeking info about a 32 cal, S&W, hand ejector, model 30-1 in brand new, as in never fired, condition. Includes cleaning kit, Serial # H47706, walnut checkered handle. The number 11407 is visible near the cylinder, above an odd mark, which includes an "s". It was purchased after 1979, but I would like to know its year of manufacture. Any help in ascertaining it's value would be appreciated greatly. Please excuse pic orientation

Nice gun; probably 1971 or 1972 production. I have one that is a few years earlier, without box/papers, but in 98% or so condition for which I paid $450 a couple years ago. I'd say yours is worth $500-$600. Enjoy.

Very nice! The 32 is a really fun gun to shoot. You will really enjoy it if you choose to shoot it. And it is always a nice bonus to get the complete package and to find one in new condition is really cool. Too bad the box corner was damaged.

Never Used
Thanks for the responses. I am happy my poor pics don't distract too much. I can't decide whether to keep it and enjoy shooting it (never fired a 32 cal. before) or sell. Cash is always nice, too..
Could anyone familiar with CA laws explain how I would go about a private sale transaction legally?

I acquired a 32 Long revolver last year to use in my BK Grip Adapter business, not to shoot, but decided to shoot it just to see what it was like. It turned out to be incredibly accurate despite a 2" barrel, and easy enough to shoot all day without hand or joint pain.
I now own 4 other 32 caliber revolvers, including 32 H&R Magnum and, as of yesterday, a 327 Federal Magnum. I don't shoot my 38s for fun any more. The 32 is an incredibly versatile caliber, and every one of the guns I've shot has been a tack driver (I'll find out about the 327, a Ruger Single Seven, next week some time.) Lighter bullets and smaller powder charges make for somewhat less expensive ammo than I can make for 38 Special. And lighter recoil is always appreciated.
The models 30 and 31 are very strong designs. I've had their 32 Long chambers extended to take 32 H&R Magnum cases, largely for the benefit of being able to load a single case size and use it in all of my guns. Mostly I shoot somewhat warm 32 Long level stuff, but I use a 30-1 as my daily carry gun now, with Buffalo Bore H&R Magnum +P loads which have more energy than the 38 Special +P loads I used to carry daily. That load is a real handful, and luckily it's too expensive to shoot much of because it's no fun. But it shoots the smallest groups of any loads I've tried, commercial or reload, and the groups print right on top of the front sight at about 7 yards. (Buffalo Bore says my extended chambers are safe for unlimited use of their +P ammo.)
So I'd say shoot the thing and get ready for some real centerfire pleasure. But be aware of the risks. You have been warned!

I have a 31-1 3". It is the square butt version of the 30.
I bought a pair of the J frame target stocks for mine.
It is a joy to shoot. I want to ream my chambers for .32 H&R Mag, but I don't have a reamer.

I think Bigcholla does! Think I got this name previously as a member of this forum who does it for reasonable $$

Welcome from the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey.
That is a beautiful revolver. Personally, considering how California gun laws are going, the revolver that you have in hand may be the only handgun you may be able to get.
I would buy brass, a bullet mold, and a Lyman 310 tool for the 32 S&W Long cartridge, then lay in a supply of powder and primers to keep it fed!

I would recommend you advertise it on Calguns.net and if you get a firm buyer, have him meet you at your FFL of choice and they'll do all the rest. Since he's the one who will have to return after 10 days, try to find one close to him. Shipping it is a PITA, so just hold out for a face to face buyer.

Big Cholla has reamed both my 30 and 31. Round trip time was about a week in each case - we used Priority Mail. You only need to send the cylinder and extractor, so no FFL involvement, just regular mail. You can drop him a PM on the forum for more details.
My first "shooter"32 was a 432PD which is a 32 H&R gun. The 30 and 31 came later. I decided it would be very convenient to be able to load everything 32, from mousefart wadcutters to full 32 H&R Mag levels, in the same cases and shoot 'em in any gun. Hence the decision to have the 32 Long chambers reamed.
