Default S&W Model 19

Someone is trying to sell me a S&W model 19. Nickel with 6 inch barrel. The serial number is 4k89360. Says from 1974
Is this a legit serial number? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum. If it has the wide target hammer and trigger that would be a great gun for target shooting. if you get it, post some pics.
