Default Mod-37 info request

Got this Model 37 from my mother. My grandfather's safe queen is now my safe queen. I was wondering the year of manufacturer and approximate value. Thanks in advance.

Made c. 1960. That one is in very nice condition. I like the round butt with original stocks. A super family heirloom.

I'm sure it's never seen 50 rounds.

Is the flat latch something that is rare?

It's not rare for your year; they switched in 1966 or there abouts so any earlier model 37 (or model 36 IIRC) should have the flat latch.

EDIT: Beautiful gun by the way....

I'm glad you brought this up. We see posts all the time with people getting excited about "finding" a flat latch gun. In fact, the answer to your question is "no, not even close."

The flat latches (three varieties) were used on several models for a bunch of years. They appeared on I frames, J frames and certain airweight K frames from the early 1950s until 1966. There are zillions of them out there. IIRC the first style was used only on the "Baby Chief," the earliest J frame revolver.
