Cool Model 60 Question

Hi...new to the forum and have a question on serial number dating for a gun I'm considering. The serial number is BBW5274.
The gun is unfired and has original box and paperwork. Seller is asking $575...not sure if that is a fair price or not. Any information on dating and pricing would be very much as ppreciated. Thanks in advance for your time, help, and consideration regarding this request. Jim

Welcome! Prefix BBW appears to be from late 1988 and would make this a 60-3. I would guess it to be at the higher end of current values for this gun but not so high that you need to feel guilty, especially with the original box and contents. Now the "should I shoot it" dilemma starts . Hope this is helpful.

I would say it's about $$75 too high. If it were the 60-7 unfired, I'd say go for it even at that price, but the 60-3 is less desirable because of its smaller sights, non heat treated for +P and narrower trigger. Just my opinion of course and where you live may also effect pricing.

Chief 38 is no doubt correct on value. But I've never let $75 stop me from buying a firearm I wanted. That said, I've occasionally paid too much for my whistle. I have an early Model 60 that I like a great deal as a knock around revolver. Seem to recall I gave $500 for mine a couple years ago.
