looking for info on my 29-2
I inherited a 44 mag from my uncle who
Past away last year. He was a deputy in
Alpine,TX years ago and it was the side
Arm he carried. it's a blued 29-2 with a 3 inch
Barrel. serial # N70302. I would just like about
What year it was made. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Most likely shipped around Sep/Oct 1972. Are you sure it's a 3"? Did you measure from the face of the cylinder to the end of the barrel? It should measure 4". Around here, we like pics, hint, hint!!

It is not 3 inch. measure again from face of cylinder.

I remeasured the barrel. 3 7/8 to the cylinder.
I appreciate the info. I have no idea what it's worth.
But it's priceless to me. I hunt wild pigs on the Buffalo
National river . all I've shot through it so far are 44 specials.
I think I'm going try some 240 grain magnums and see how they
Work on some big pigs.

Four inches is the nominal length. It's not unusual if it varies a little one way or the other.
Very nice and desirable M29. I don't know the market now, but $1,000 would not be out of the question. $800 may be more reasonable.
