Default M28-2 With Diamond Targets

I told you guys to come get this gun so I wouldn't have to buy it. This is the one I found laying on the floor at the LGS a few days ago. A couple of you did call the store, but it was still there this morning. Made in 1978 with Diamond Targets that are much earlier. I'm thinking 1960ish. Not sure. The gun is absolutely unfired after factory. Q-tip comes out clean from everywhere. Almost no turn line. This is the highest polish I have ever seen on a M28, almost to the point of being a M27 polish. I had some credit cards that were getting too close to a zero balance. I split the purchase among three of them just to keep them active, so I didn't even feel the purchase. Previous sales on EBAY indicate the grips are going for $250 and up from there. They are nice and undamaged. Maybe a little Tru-Oil rubbed on them a long time ago. The whole thing set me back $560 plus tax. I have period-correct Targets and Magnas in like new condition, but kind of like these diamonds on it for now. Also have an old Smith presentation box just waiting. The grips do have a "swell" at the diamond, but I don't know anything about this "Coke" stuff. I figure I have about $300 in the gun and $250 in the grips.

Excellent gun. I would've happily picked it up for that price.

Nice score, Doc!!! I'm mainly an I and J frame kind of a guy, with a few Ks thrown in...but I do have a few N frames now, and two of them are Highway Patrolmen!! They are great shooters, all that mass makes them was on the recoil.

Best Regards, Les

You did the right thing. Way to go!

The stocks are not Cokes and date from no later than 1967.

Nice HP.

Great buy all the way around. I am very partial to targets with the "little football" not to mention the diamonds. My bank account is a little squeezed right now or I would be sending you a PM on those.

Yeah, I like that little football cutout the best too. What I really need now is an N Frame from the 1950's to put these on. You know how guns hardly ever come with the right grips or worst of all Pachs; but, you do get a discount price when the grips are not there. I'm ready this time for when I find one of those.

Awesome I just bought a 100% 28-2 at auction 10 minutes ago, numbers and grips matching, unfired, 1978. 4" for $675 all in done.

Nice 28 you have there! Wish I had a 4 incher too. Do have a 6" 28 no dash though. It is of the dull polish variety. Oh well, I still like it. Have a mint set of diamond targets for it. Never took a picture with them on though. Bob

Finally got to pick mine up and bring it home. Gave it a good soak in my favorite gun specific lubricant.
