Default Help with Model 36 no dash

I found a Model 36 no dash with the Diamond in the grips, 3" barrel and flat ejector button. Its a five shot j frame and here are the pictures. I don't have the serial number, haven't bought it yet but he wants 425.00 for it. I am a member here and just looking for some help to see if it is worth the money. Its been carried and not a safe queen so has some wear. Any help please would be nice.

Sounds like a decent price to me based on the pictures and description. I like the diamond magnas, If they are original to the gun it would be a fairly early one.

Pictures are kind of dark, but from what I can see I'd definitely pay asking price. Good looking Chiefs Special.

Default I'd buy it....

Of course try to deal, but don't be so hard to get that you walk out without that gun. The barrel length is very desirable but even a snub in that shape would be worth it.

I paid a similar price for one that had very little wear, but a couple of scratches. I ain't sorry.

A 3" Model 36 from before 1966? For $425? Buy it. Yesterday. You won't be sorry.

This is a private sale, meeting the gentleman today for inspection and probably a sale. I will let you all know how it turns out.

Good luck. I think you would be making a good deal providing you find the gun rust free and locks up nice and tight.

There is one very similar for sale in the classifieds, also from AZ.
You might want to check that one, the price is $350.

The one on the forum classifieds is the same one. Thanks for the input opaul I picked it up for 360.00 with holster and some ammo. The pictures just don't do it justice even tho it does have very little wear.

Oh yeah, at $360 you did great on that one. How much ammo did you get? That and the holster are just icing on the cake....

The serial number on this one is 338XXX and I know it was made between 1962 to 1966. Can anyone narrow it down for me and maybe tell me what year it was made? Thanks in advance.

Default Am I the only one?

Is your new revolver really a Model 36?

Your original photo makes the number look like a Mod. 31.

Is it truly a .38 S&W Special? or is it a .32 S&W Long?

If it's a Chiefs my eyes must be WAY off.

Cheers,

Bob

It is stamped mod 36 and it shoots 38 Special rounds at least all the ones I fed it. Maybe your just thrown off by the 3 inch barrel and square butt.

Very happy with the gun! Went to the range yesterday and had a good time with it and my Mod 15. That Mod 36 operated with out a flaw it fired every thing I put through it, both single and double action. I am a happy shooter.

Thanks.

It wasn't the 3" barrel and square butt -- I have a 36-1 heavy barrel that I also snagged for $360, minus the leather and ammo.

Just my eyes, I reckon.
