Default Gun show find

Went to the gun show yesterday and found a Smith and Wesson that has been on my list for awhile. It's a Model 49, serial # 492XXX. It came with a box, manual, and a warranty card. It's my first J-frame and oldest Smith. I love the stocks and I was happy to find that they numbered to the gun. It has a great action and I look forward to shooting it.

I'd say you certainly hit a home run on that purchase!

Well, not if he paid too much for it.
Wish more people would tell what they paid. This most interesting bit of information is too often neglected.

I agree, share some good deal prices or we will think you paid too much...

I probably did pay too much for it ($525) but I had the money and haven't seen any in person in this condition. Luckily, I've never missed the money I've "overspent" on Smiths and hopefully I'll have this gun for many decades to come.

Nice find indeed. I have a 49 that rarely gets out of the safe. Not my pick for carry, but one of those guns that has always struck me as interesting and iconic.

Seems a little rude to ask a man what he paid for something. If he volunteers that information, it's his to share, but not mine to ask for.

I plan on shooting and carrying it. I have no safe queens. They are just too much fun to shoot.

I'm not a spendthrift but I also don't understand the idea that you should only buy a handgun you admire and have been searching for if it's at some ridiculously cheap price.

I've never opened my safe to admire my envelope of "gun money" but I have spent hours cleaning and waxing a classic S&W some might have thought I paid too much for. I guess it depends on whether it means more to you to save a few bucks or take a bragging gun to the range.

Nice piece. Congrats.

My daughters carry gun is a 49. She was looking for a carry piece like my 342 Ti, when she found the 49. It was a friends gunshop and he gave her $75 off, no box though...........

I think I saw you looking at that yesterday at the FW gun show. I was going to buy it if you put it down but it looked like a done deal when you had them snip the tie-wrap off of it.
Good find!!

This deserves more than one like but that's all I can give.

Great looking old Model 49. If you're happy that's all that matters. Congratulations on the new revolver!

Thanks for revealing your buying price, and no, you didn't pay too much from what I am seeing.
It's nice to have real world prices other than Gunbroker thrown in the mix to give a broader perspective.

Whoo hoo!

That's so very fine! And, what a great price!

Yor ol' daddy said for me to get on here and see this.

If I bring cinnamon rolls could I "fingerprint" it?

Congrats on your find. I've been looking but never see them in person around here and nothing that's been on the 'net has piqued my interest.

Enjoy it!
