Default Cylinder Model 19-3

I just sent my model 19-3 (nickle) to S&W for repair. Sometimes I can't open the cylinder. S&W said if the cylinder is bulged that they have no parts to repair it.
I just found a cylinder (nickel) that's counter-bored like mine off a 19-4, will this work for my gun if need be?

Its just the cylinder no extractor.

Does the extractor star have the alignment pins?

I ask because I had a bulged chamber in the cylinder of my 15-5 and another member here generously gave me a spare that he had. Fortunately he gave me the extractor with it, because both cylinders had the alignment pins, but unfortunately they weren't located the same, so my extractor wouldn't work with the new cylinder. Then I discovered that the ejector rod center pin I had wouldn't work with the extractor star of the replacement cylinder.

So I ended up having to get a new center pin to match the new cylinder. Once I got that and put it all back together it worked perfectly.

So, if you don't have the extractor for the new cylinder, if they both have the pins and they line up, you're lucky and there is a good chance it will be a drop in. If not, then it may get a little more complicated....

Just curious, did you try any troubleshooting before sending it in? There are several things that can cause a cylinder to bind and be difficult to open other than a bulged cylinder. Some of these are easy fixes, i.e., crud under the extractor star, ejector rod loose.

Or maybe you could tell the cylinder is bulged. Good luck getting your revolver up and running.

Thank you for your replies, I actually took it a local gunsmith that's been around for 40 years. He never said he found a bulged cylinder, just said he didn't know. Have a feeling he just didn't want to work on it, that's why I sent it to S&W to get a real answer.
