Could anyone advise the born on or shipping date of a Model 15-2 Serial #K549XXX, it has SCPD markings, most probably Suffolk Co. (NY) PD., where I acquired this somewhat rough specimen.
I shoots fine, and I hope to clean it up and add the proper grips, any advice here would be appreciated as well. Photos to follow dependent on my photography skills and computer acumen. Thanks in advance.

S/N would make it a latter 1963. Don't know shipping date.

I have a Model 15-2 serial# K559xxx which shipped in June, 1964.
S&W did not ship in serial number order, but yours was probably somewhere in that time frame, more than likely a bit earlier.
