Default 'N' Mark Location on Cylinder Question

Did S&W ever stamp the letter 'N' for nickel under the ejector star on nickel cylinders? I've seen it on the face of the cylinder but not under the star.

Hello Mr. opaul, Im looking at my factory nickel pre Mod-10, Dec.8, 1955.
Factory lettered by Mr. Jinks. I see two N marks. Left frame flat and barrel flat with full Sn. Back of star only has the Sn. Both faces of the cyl. are void of an N mark. So, Im no help. Factory nickel guns were tricky. Best.

I think the OP is referring to the recessed portion of the cylinder where the ejector star rests.
I have a number of factory Nickel gun's with the N in that location.

The answer is yes. I have several 29-2s and a 19-2 with a N stamped on the cylinder in the recessed area under the extractor. Each letters as being shipped with a nickel finish.

Bill

OOPS! under the oil glob, there is a tiny N stamped. So I missed it.
I freely admit it, learned again. Thanks for the forgiveness. Best.
