I don't quite know where to put this, so I guess I will start a new thread here where I think it should fit best.

What is the current value of a NIB M27 6" S&W Blue, Red Ramp, Maga Grips, TTT, purchased in 1978 w/ presentation box, cardboard boxes all the boxes were shipped in. Cleaning acc, screwdriver, papers, the whole nine yards.

I would like to get a feeling for the actual selling price, not the fishing price, realizing it will vary a little from region to region. In my area everyone is a auto nut and revolvers are for cavemen. I will remain in my cave. It is just that I am not a real collector of anything and that handgun is just too pretty to stuff in a holster and bangup. I have other .357's for that vulgar treatment!

Where I shop, as described probably about $1500. Might go a couple hundred higher on a national auction site; maybe a little less in a retail shop that doesn't get a lot of traffic. Nice package, enjoy.

If it as you described $1,000-$1,200 would be the floor in my area.

If you are selling it, you could put it up for sale on the forum here, and you will get good money for it here. Just be patient.

There are many Model 27 fans here.

They are great revolvers.

First off I've never seen magna grips with a presentation box gun from the 70's, usually target grips.

That aside if truly NIB with "the whole nine yards, I'd think $1500 is a good starting place.

Yes, I agree it should be a 27-2. I'd estimate $1200 would be an immediate "buy" from someone and you will wait a little longer to get $1500-1700 from someone who really wants it.

Well Gentlemen, you have educated me greatly in a rather short time. On a double check, swinging the cylinder open it is indeed a M27-2. Yes, the grips are probably properly referred to as target grips. I only really know of two factory styles, target and service. Can anyone post a picture of true Magna grips for my benefit and continued education?

Going past $600 around here loses people's interest in a clunky old revolver you can't even stick in your pocket. Maybe a boat anchor when I steelhead, good drag rig! If the day arrives I decide to part with it, I will give you lads a shout. In the meantime, just be content in knowing there is still at least one virgin left in the woods.

Don't know exactly where you are but if you go to a Portland gun show with $1000.00 on the whole setup you won't get 5ft inside the door before someone buys it.

Here is a 5" with original Magna stocks like those that would have shipped on your 27-2 (if it shipped with Magna stocks). Those shown by muddocktor on his -5 are slightly different.

I'd say, for the right buyer, $1,500 - $1,800 is on target. I've got a NIB (pristine, unfired) 4" 27-2 with everything the way it was shipped (including cardboard shipping box, etc). The presentation box even still has the shrink wrap on it.

With the condition, rarity of 4" barrel, and completeness of the package, I wouldn't part with it unless the offer was at, or near 2k. Big price, but try to find another package like it; you won't... It's a time capsule... Again, would take the right buyer, but they are out there.

If Diamond Firearms on GunBroker sold it, they would get $4000 for that package.

4" guns replaced the 3 1/2 and 5 inch offerings...... and were only offered (other than special order) from about 1980-92 shortest run of any barrel length.

I agree with DMar. New In Box is something that the right buyer will shell out real money for. A few hundred dollars will not deter someone who wants a NIB specimen. Nothing currently manufactured even comes close.

I would estimate the value between $1,200 to $1,500 maybe more. A 99.99% m27-2/6" with the 3 t's in blue alone with nothing was $750 about four years ago. It's twin in nickel was $750 also. Some of these in nib condition with the goodies are close to $2k.

Of course it's a new day, a new time, a new price for used S&W revolvers. If we snooze we lose.

Wow, that's a big number! They are actually selling Smiths that high...? I'll have to check them out on GB. Been a while since I've shopped around on GB, dangerous, you know...
