Just Spied a 19-3, 4 inch bbl, Perfect condition
And they want $499. Yep a pawn shop.
No box but it does have those big target S&W grips.
And here I sit with some vintage presentation grips...
So if it is tight, not a scratch on it, is it worth it?
Thanks.

Yep, that's a $650-700 gun just about anywhere that knows what they're worth. That pawn shop obviously doesn't. Get it!

Put it this way...
I paid $413 plus tax for a no-dash 4" M19 with holster wear and rubber Pachmayrs on it.
Would I pay $86 more for one that is near pristine and had a set of nice target stocks on it?
You bet your behind I would, IN A NEW YORK MINUTE!
I would probably dislocate my shoulder reaching for my wallet.

4 years ago, I got a pristine, and I mean pristine, 19-2 4" barrel for $249. $263 out the door. Pinned and recessed. Factory diamond target stocks numbered to the gun. Shot 18 rounds out of it and cleaned it. Sold it for triple my money 6 months after buying it. And I still miss it.

I'm a little surprised you had to ask on this one. I hope these other replies got you to go and get it. Need some photos when you get it home.

Ok... ok... I'll go back tomorrow, super check it for any flaws.
If good to go, I'll grab it.
Oh, sadly many years ago I had one, I think a 19-1, 4 inch ROUND BUTT model. Yes the RB had groves in the backstrap. Dang I wish I had kept that one.

Look it over good. Ask to remove grips. If original finish with no reworking marks the price is a great one. If it has been redone try and get it for a little less.

There is something about a blue K frame 19 that I tend to shoot better one hand groups than an L or N frame. Not by much but it has the edge.

Ok. Went back. Very thorough check. Locks perfect, no wear, fantastic blue. Just an itty-bitty bit of white paint on the front sight (just paint, it will come off easily.)
Bore was fine. Has trigger stop to boot. Just maybe fired a few shots. No end shake, crane shake, cylinder shake. Just, well, great.
I plunked down $100 lay-away, brought my own gun case, oiled the gun, and it sleeps there.
Let you folks know when I git it out of hock.

Well it was $542, tax inc. but NO I will not turn it over for a 'modest profit'. That's illegal (ATF rules.) I'll keep it for years. Maybe in my old age I'll then sell it, or if I kick the bucket, the kids get it.
But I don't 'flip' guns.

Me either. Not that I'm so worried about the ATF, but because I only buy guns that really interest me. I may decide later that they are not a good fit for some reason, and if I can make a good trade or sell them for good money I will. But mostly I want to use them and hang on to them.

It's out of hock!!!
My S&W 19 is in my hands. I had also picked up earlier a S&W 15-2 for $300 + tax. It is now 'rehabilitated' and in great shooting condition.
Not the best photos but you can see the 19-2 is in very very good condition.
Now to go shoot them just a bit.

Sounds like that pawn shop doesnt have internet access....
At those prices I would calmly and casually say....Oh...BTW If you have any more of these old S&W's come in call me before putting them out on display, heres my cellphone number

Well actually the 15-2 I bought they did go into the back. It was 'broke'. Someone dropped it on the rear sight and smashed it bad. Paid $300 + tax. All in needed was a) oiling .. it would not cock well nor cylinder spin at all, b) new rear sight (but I had one at home), c) trigger to big (but I traded triggers at a gun shop I know well, no cost!) and d) a bit of a dent in the front sight (easy to fix to!)
The Tyler T came with it to!
I'm gonna ask more often what is in the back room! Never know!
And remember, I got a S&W 520 fixed sighted N frame .357! $500 bucks, tax included. Just saw one for $1,750.00 at collectors archives on the net!!
Just never know!

A 19-3 in excellent condition for $499 don't ask questions just buy it. I paid $549 OTD for mine and it is not near excellent condition. If you wait on a great gun at that price someone will snatch it up fast.

From what you described, frankly, don't collect $200 as you pass go - Buy it before it's gone!!!
